Summary

People’s Internet onAir is a human-curated, AI-assisted website or hub similar to a real world town hall and think tank.

We bring together advocates, technologists, students and the public to:
LEARN more about the People’s Internet and evolve our knowledge about data ownership, new protocols and applications, and its leaders and organizations;
DISCUSS key issues, challenges, options, and opportunities
ENGAGE with others to co-create a better, more decentralized and user-centric internet

Together, we can build knowledge-based, trusted, collaborative online communities to create a “People’s Internet”

  • Where onAir hub members own their content & share their profiles and projects with related hubs without being tracked, algorithmic feeds, or intrusive ads;
  • Where public posts are curated and shared by members without paywalls integrating AI summaries with their own knowledge; spotlighting the latest news, videos, and projects; moderating discussions, and hosting livestreamed interviews and events;
  • Where every person can participate and thrive

OnAir Post: About People’s Internet onAir

About

Overview

Below is an initial Notebook LM infographic that shows how the onAir platform can be applied to creating a People’s Internet hub that provides a go-to place for people and organizations to Learn, Discuss, and Engage. The onAir platform reimagines and combines a number of current web applications such as Wikipedia, AI summaries, LinkedIn, Substack, and social media along with a focus on data ownership and agency.

Inspiration

This People’s Internet hub was inspired by Project Liberty‘s various initiatives and “commitment to building a better internet—where the data is ours to manage, the platforms are ours to govern, and the power is ours to reclaim.”

This hub was also catalyzed by the work of the Solid Project & protocol. The onAir knowledge sharing platform is integrating both the Solid  and Frequency (Project Liberty Labs) protocols within its software.

Protocols and Apps

Below is a graphic that displays some of the protocols and apps that could go into a People’s Internet.
